About
Few people in healthcare have stood on both sides of the clinical-technology divide simultaneously. Sarah Matt trained as a surgeon, then spent a decade in the executive layer — VP at Oracle Health through the Cerner acquisition, VP at NextGen Healthcare, CSO at Sovato, and executive at ESO (acquired by Vista). She has been the physician in the boardroom and the executive on the hospital floor. That vantage point is what makes her sessions different. She doesn't explain healthcare AI from theory — she explains it from the implementation layer, where governance structures fail, where pilot programs stall, and where the gap between clinical workflow and product design becomes a patient safety issue. Her book, The Borderless Healthcare Revolution (Wiley, 2025), debuted on the USA Today bestseller list and held for two consecutive weeks. Her podcast, The Clinical Realist, reaches healthcare executives and health technology leaders weekly. Audiences leave with frameworks they can use the next morning — not a mindset shift, but a structural map.
The Patient We Never Designed For
Keynote • 45-90 minutes
Most healthcare reform conversations diagnose the symptoms. This keynote traces the architectural decisions made decades ago by policymakers, payers, and health system planners that locked in today's care delivery failures. Drawing on the Five Pillars of Access framework from The Borderless Healthcare Revolution (Wiley, 2025), Dr. Matt maps where the system breaks down across Physical, Financial, Cultural, Digital, and Trust dimensions, and identifies the specific leverage points where executive action changes outcomes at scale. The result is a session that moves rooms from frustrated awareness to structured strategy — with a framework they can use the next morning.

Why Your AI Pilot Will Fail Before It Launches
Session • 30-60 minutes
Built from direct experience inside the implementation layer at Oracle Health, NextGen Healthcare, and across dozens of enterprise deployments, this session delivers a tactical framework for clinical AI governance that program directors and CIOs can apply immediately. Dr. Matt identifies the five structural failure modes endemic to AI pilot design — from physician workflow misalignment to governance gaps at the procurement stage — and lays out the architecture that prevents them. This is not a thought leadership overview. It is a working diagnostic tool for organizations that have committed to AI and need the governance infrastructure to make it perform.

Pilotitis: The Epidemic No One's Naming
Keynote • 45-90 minutes
Drawing on case patterns across hundreds of health technology deployments — from early-stage digital health companies through enterprise health system implementations — Dr. Matt delivers a six-step clinical implementation architecture that addresses the root causes of pilot failure. This is not a culture change talk. It is a process engineering session that identifies the specific decision gates where pilots stall, the organizational conditions that create those stalls, and the governance structures that route around them. Attendees leave with an implementation framework, not a mindset shift. Built for health system innovation leaders and digital health executives who are tired of inspiration and need infrastructure.
