About
When organizations invite me to speak, they’re getting more than a keynote; they’re getting someone who truly understands the work. I’ve spent my career in the trenches of community mental health, schools, crisis systems, residential facilities, and programs serving adjudicated youth, so I know firsthand the challenges professionals face every day. I combine research with real-world experience (and a little humor, because sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying) to deliver presentations that are engaging, relatable, and practical. My goal isn’t just to inspire people for an hour; it’s to leave audiences with perspectives and strategies they can actually use to strengthen mental wellness, build resilience, and create meaningful change in their organizations and communities.
What's Strong With You
In this presentation, we explore what it truly means to be mentally well and the common misconceptions that prevent individuals and organizations from prioritizing mental wellness. Participants will examine resilience through a strengths-based lens and learn practical strategies for fostering mental health and resilience in themselves and others. Attendees will leave with a fresh perspective and actionable, strengths-based approaches to support mental wellness and build resilience.
Trauma Informed Strategies to Prevent School Violence
Discover how school resource officers and school personnel can work together to proactively support students impacted by trauma and reduce the risk of school violence. This session provides practical, trauma-informed strategies that promote safety, build trust, and encourage early intervention. Attendees will explore the impact of trauma on student behavior, learn how to recognize warning signs, and engage in effective, collaborative responses. Ideal for SROs, administrators, counselors, and educators, this session empowers school teams with a shared framework for prevention-focused, compassionate school safety.
Practical Strategies for Stress Management and Self-Care
Working in helping professions can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be emotionally draining. Many professionals experience vicarious trauma or secondary traumatic stress, and let’s be honest… a bubble bath doesn’t always fix that. In this session, participants will gain a foundational understanding of trauma and how it impacts those who care for others. We will explore practical, realistic strategies for building sustainable self-care habits that support long-term mental wellness, moving beyond the occasional spa day to everyday practices that keep our mental health in top shape.
